Using Technology

Children today are constantly on the computer, watching T.V., and listening to their MP3 players. Whether they are playing games or chatting with their friends they enjoy technology. Incorporating technology in the classroom can be a great motivation for students. It is much more enjoyable for a student to be able to learn syllables or a math problem with software on the computer. If the student is interested they will take more from the activity. Using technology in the classroom will not only be a great way to get students excited about learning but help them to learn how to use technology to their advantage as well. Using an internet activity such as Monster Exchange, not only teaches students how to use descriptive word and actively communicate properly, but have fun while doing it.

Hands On Learning

Hands-on learning provides learning by doing, which helps students to acquire knowledge and skills outside of books and lectures. Learning can occur through work, play and other life experiences.Accomplished teachers include plenty of hands-on learning experiences, especially in science and math, to ensure student understanding of new and unfamiliar concepts. Hands-on learning can also be used for a way to make the students enjoy what they are learning. When students are involved they are much more likely to learn the information. During a science experiment students are much more likely to do well when they get to set up and do the experiment on their own rather than being shown it. Students enjoy being involved in their education.

Game Based Learning

One of the best ways to make learning fun in the classroom is to incorporate educational material with games (Game Based Learning). Games such as Sparkle, are fun for students while at the same time help them to practice spelling. This game serves as good practice for the weeks (or previous weeks) spelling words. There are games that can be used with every different subject. For math, playing the game math baseball is a game where the students have to answer the math problem right to advance through the bases. Games such as these can incorporate things students enjoy in learning. Game based Learning also uses competitive exercises, either putting the students against each other or getting them to challenge themselves in order to motivate them to learn better. This is a very great way to make learning fun in the classroom!
